AI Music Generation

Suno

★★★★★ 4.5/5 Freemium
Generate complete, professional-quality songs from a text prompt

Suno AI generates full songs — with realistic vocals, instrumentation, lyrics, and professional mixing — from a simple text description in under 30 seconds. No musical training required. Create in any genre, from pop to metal to jazz to classical.

What it can do

Key Features

Full songs in under 30 seconds

Suno generates complete, production-ready songs — typically 1:30 to 2:00 in length — with a single text prompt. The output includes realistic AI vocals, melody, chord progressions, instrumentation, drums, and a proper song structure (verse, chorus, bridge, outro).

Custom mode for full control

Custom mode separates lyrics, style description, and title into individual fields. Write your own lyrics and specify the style independently: 'upbeat indie rock, female vocalist, guitar-driven, 120 BPM.' This gives dramatically more control than the automatic mode.

Extend and continue songs

Any generated track can be extended. Click the menu → Extend → choose whether to add to the beginning or end. Specify what should happen next: 'instrumental bridge, build back into the chorus.' Build complete full-length songs section by section.

Remix and cover modes

Create a remix of any public Suno track or use an existing song as a style reference. The remix mode lets you change the genre, tempo, and arrangement while keeping the melodic structure — useful for creating multiple versions of the same song.

Inpaint for targeted edits

Inpaint lets you replace specific segments of a generated song without changing the rest. Select a 2-second section of vocals you don't like and regenerate just that segment. Essential for fixing specific timing, pronunciation, or melodic issues in otherwise good tracks.

Commercial MP3 downloads

All paid plan users can download generated tracks as high-quality MP3 files with commercial licensing. Use them for YouTube videos, podcasts, ads, games, apps, and client projects. Files include metadata with the generation prompt embedded.

Step by step

How to get started

1

Create your account and understand credits

Go to suno.com → Sign up with Google, Discord, or email. Free plan: 50 credits/day (resets daily) = about 10 songs. Each song generation costs 5 credits and gives you 2 clips of ~1:30 each.

Plan comparison:
Free: 50 credits/day, personal use only
Basic ($8/mo, 2,500 credits): Commercial use, better audio quality
Pro ($24/mo, 10,000 credits): Full commercial rights, high-quality download (MP3/WAV), priority generation

Strategy: use free credits to test styles and structures. Upgrade to Pro for final production-quality tracks with commercial rights.

2

Generate your first song in Auto mode

Click Create → make sure you are in Auto mode (toggle at top). Type a 1-2 sentence description:
upbeat lo-fi hip hop study track with soft piano, mellow beats, vinyl crackle, warm bass, and late-night urban atmosphere

Click Create. Suno generates 2 versions in about 30 seconds.

Listen to both versions using the waveform player. The first 15 seconds tell you if the direction is right. Favorite (♥) any version you want to keep, then click Extend to build it into a full song, or create new variations.

3

Write a complete original song in Custom mode

Click Custom to unlock full control over lyrics and style separately.

Lyrics field — use structure markers:

[Intro]
Soft guitar, building atmosphere...

[Verse 1]
Walking through the city lights tonight
Searching for a reason to be alright

[Pre-Chorus]
But I am still here, still breathing

[Chorus]
We are the fire that nobody can contain
We rise together, fall apart the same

[Verse 2]
[Continue story...]

[Bridge]
[Emotional peak, more intense]

[Outro]
[Fade out gently...]
Style field: anthemic alternative rock, powerful female vocals, driving electric guitar, stadium reverb, emotional crescendo, professional production

Generate → listen → iterate on the style field until the production matches your vision.

4

Extend tracks to full song length

Generated clips are ~1:30. Build a complete 3-4 minute song through extensions:

Step 1: Generate your best opening clip.
Step 2: Click ⋯ → Continue from this clip.
Step 3: Add your next section's lyrics (chorus, bridge, verse 2). Include structure markers.
Step 4: In the style field, guide the musical direction: building to emotional climax, more intense, full band.
Step 5: Repeat for each remaining section until the song is complete.

Tip: the best long songs are built section by section, not in one long extension. Each extension is a new generation — be specific about what should happen in that section.

5

Remaster for final audio quality

Once your song structure is complete, improve the audio quality with Cover mode:

Click your finished song → Create Cover.

In Cover mode, you can: keep the same style (just improves production quality), or change the style entirely: same melody and lyrics but now reimagined as jazz piano trio instead of rock.

On Pro plan, use Remaster (in the ⋯ menu) for the highest quality audio processing pass. This is what you use for the final version you plan to publish or distribute.

Always remaster before downloading — the difference in audio quality between a raw generation and a remastered version is significant on good speakers.

6

Download and distribute your music

On Basic plan and above: click your song → DownloadMP3. Pro plan adds WAV (lossless, required for professional distribution).

To release on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music:
1. Create an account at DistroKid ($22/year unlimited songs) or TuneCore ($14.99 per album/year)
2. Upload your WAV or high-quality MP3
3. Upload artwork (1400x1400px minimum — create in Canva)
4. Fill in: song title, genre, release date, ISRC code (distributor provides)
5. Submit — available on streaming platforms in 1-3 business days

Keep your Suno Pro subscription as proof of copyright ownership if any Content ID claim arises.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use Suno-generated songs commercially?
Free tier songs (50 credits/day) are for personal, non-commercial use only. Pro plan ($10/mo) and Premier plan ($30/mo) include commercial licensing for most business uses — YouTube content, podcasts, apps, games, and client work. Enterprise licensing is available for large-scale commercial projects. Read the terms at suno.com/terms before commercial use.
How many songs can I make for free per day?
Free accounts receive 50 credits per day, and each song generation costs 5 credits. This gives you approximately 10 full songs per day for free. Credits reset daily at midnight UTC. You can generate two variations simultaneously (10 credits total) to compare options.
How do I get better results from Suno?
Three key techniques: 1) Use Custom mode instead of Auto — separate lyrics and style give much more control. 2) Be specific about style — include genre, subgenre, vocal type, key instruments, and tempo. 3) Use structure markers ([Verse 1], [Chorus], [Bridge]) in your lyrics to improve structural coherence. Vague prompts produce generic results.
Can I upload my own melody or recording?
Suno v4 introduced a feature to upload audio clips as style references — you can upload a melody or groove and ask Suno to generate a song with a similar feel. This is not the same as fine-grained control over specific notes, but it significantly improves style matching compared to text descriptions alone.
How does Suno compare to Udio?
Suno and Udio (suno.com vs udio.com) are the two leading AI music generators. Suno is generally considered more consistent and easier to use. Udio produces slightly more natural-sounding vocals in some genres but is less predictable. Many professionals use both: Suno for reliability, Udio for experimentation.
